I’ve lived in CA my entire life and moved to San Clemente when I was 18 years old to be near the ocean. I was drawn to the beach culture and lifestyle, and I can’t imagine ever living anywhere else.
Along with other members of the community we started the San Clemente Skatepark Coalition, a non-profit whose goal was to raise funds to improve the Skatepark in San Clemente. I served as president for at least four years, and we raised $50,000 to install lights at the skatepark, an accomplishment we are very proud of. We brought awareness to the community and city leaders about the popularity of skateboarding in San Clemente and the need to better support the skate community as well as create more opportunities for skaters. Through working with the City and Beaches Parks and Recreation Department, City Council and members of the community, we helped bring skateboarding to the top of the priority list of projects to be addressed in the city’s parks Master Plan. I have also helped plan the SC Open Skate Competition at Steed Park for many years.
I love the casual laid back community in SC and that it’s not unusual to see people grocery shop or go to dinner in board shorts, bathing suits and bare feet.
I enjoy serving the Friends Foundation because it lines up with my personal goal of waking up every day and asking myself, “What can I do today to make San Clemente a better place to live?” I have been on the FoSC Board for five years and served as Secretary for the past four years. I can directly contribute to giving back to the community by assisting in funding and planning wonderful family events, awarding scholarships, and funding projects within the community that also support this goal of making SC a better place to live.
I am married to my husband Ryan, and we have two children. My husband and children are all avid surfers, and you can most often find me with a camera in my hands- filming or photographing them from the beach. When I’m not on the beach you’ll find me at the skatepark with my kids, working in my garden, reading books, or crocheting.
