I have lived in San Clemente for 55 years. We moved here from the San Gabriel Valley where I was born and raised and moved because we did not have to live in the Los Angeles area. I went to college at L.A. State University and earned an elementary teaching credential. I taught sixth and eighth grades in West Covina until we moved to San Clemente. I taught fourth through sixth grades, science and computers in Mission Viejo for over thirty years. When I retired, I signed up for several recreation classes including tennis, golf, drawing and several more. I was a member of the American Association of University Women and I began volunteering at the Ocean Institute and Casa Romantica. I was a director for my homeowner’s association at my second home in Mammoth Lakes for twenty years. Bill Thomas got me involved in the Foundation in 2003. Whether it is walking the beach trail, playing, or swimming at the beach, sitting on the beach listening to the waves or just enjoying the pleasant atmosphere of my home, I love San Clemente and have since I was in high school. I am widowed, my husband taught English at San Clemente High School for thirty years and my two children attended San Clemente schools. I am still playing tennis and golf regularly and am active with my Mammoth association. My favorite park would have to be one with an empty tennis court, generally San Luis Rey. I love ice cream and most people do not know that I have my master’s degree in school administration.
